About Us
Anyango Mpinga Studio is an interdisciplinary practice at the intersection of fashion, visual storytelling, and social impact. Founded by Kenyan artist and designer Anyango Mpinga, the studio is rooted in circular design, cultural preservation, and environmental stewardship, using fashion as both a canvas and a catalyst for systemic change.
With a foundation in heritage craft and material integrity, the studio creates bespoke garments, original textile prints, mixed media artworks, and experiential installations that explore themes of human interconnection, displacement, resilience, and collective memory. Each piece is conceived as a dialogue between ancestral memory and contemporary innovation, integrating 3D design and blockchain technology in its manufacturing process to minimize waste. Recycled textiles, upcycled materials and regenerative techniques are transformed into works that position beauty as both resourceful and restorative.
The Studio’s collaborations include creative projects with Google Arts & Culture, Design Indaba and British sustainable footwear brand Vivobarefoot. Anyango has also mentored innovators through the Swarovski Foundation’s Creatives for Our Future program and served on the Advisory Committee for the United Nations Fashion and Lifestyle Network. Through her 501c3 nonprofit, Free As A Human Foundation, she advocates for the end of human trafficking and modern slavery, leveraging design and education to empower survivors and amplify their voices.
Her creative philosophy bridges aesthetic excellence with climate consciousness, positioning art and fashion as tools for planetary healing. The work of Anyango Mpinga has been featured in Forbes, Vogue, Elle, CNN, WWD, France TV and more. She was recognised as one of ten women global leaders in the Conscious Fashion Campaign, with her work honored on the NASDAQ billboard at Times Square.
