Named after Neith, one of ancient Egypt’s most primordial goddesses, this piece draws from a story of creation, protection, and feminine power. It is part of the Faces of the Earth collection, inspired by the ceremonial masks of the Sukuma people of Tanzania, who represent one half of ANYANGO’s heritage. Long associated with storytelling, protection, and ancestral presence, these masks inform the spirit and symbolism of each piece.

Handcrafted from natural raffia and embroidered with imagery translated directly from ANYANGO's original paintings, every bag is created by hand and no two are ever exactly alike. Variations in the weave, embroidery, and finish are celebrated as part of each bag's unique character.

Revered at Sais, Neith was associated with creation, weaving, hunting, and warfare. In ancient Egyptian cosmology, she was understood as a primordial force who existed before the established order and was connected to the weaving of existence itself.

The Neith bag carries this mythology into a contemporary object, where architectural form and handwoven craftsmanship become part of the storytelling. Her story speaks to woman as creator, protector, and author of her own becoming, connecting ancient ideas of feminine power with the continuing story of identity, ancestry, and self-definition
