Named after Nut, the ancient Egyptian goddess of the sky, this piece draws from a story of creation, protection, motherhood, and rebirth.

Nut was imagined as the vast celestial body arching over the earth, her form holding the stars and sheltering the world beneath her. She was both mother and cosmos, a source of life and a protector of the eternal cycle of birth, death, and renewal.

The circular form of the Nut bag reflects this sense of continuity and return, while its red hue evokes the warmth and vitality of life itself. A sculptural expression of the feminine as expansive, protective, and eternal.

Part of the Faces of the Earth collection, inspired by the ceremonial masks of the Sukuma people of Tanzania, who represent one half of ANYANGO’s heritage. Handcrafted from natural raffia and embroidered with imagery translated directly from ANYANGO's original paintings, every bag is created by hand and no two are ever exactly alike. Variations in the weave, embroidery, and finish are celebrated as part of each bag's unique character.
