Named after Tefnut, the ancient Egyptian goddess of moisture, rain, and the life-giving forces of nature, this piece draws from a story of elemental power, creation, and renewal.
Often associated with the lioness, Tefnut embodies a feminine force that is both nurturing and formidable. Her presence speaks to the essential forces that sustain life, reminding us that creation begins with what allows life to flourish.
In blue, the Tefnut carries the fluidity and depth of water into sculptural form, where colour, architecture, and storytelling converge.
Part of the Faces of the Earth collection, inspired by the ceremonial masks of the Sukuma people of Tanzania, who represent one half of ANYANGO’s heritage. Handcrafted from natural raffia and embroidered with imagery translated directly from ANYANGO's original paintings, every bag is created by hand and no two are ever exactly alike. Variations in the weave, embroidery, and finish are celebrated as part of each bag's unique character.
